sort of sandy hair dye. john would get furious at him because he did not do what he wanted and he is one of those precise people who has been really good to me and when my husband died he was there, came to receiving that night. he has always been there for me. he went to washington for the bill signing. that is interesting too. he was in court and his wife, he had a system that worked. a plane ticket from atlanta to washington to baltimore because her mother lives in baltimore. she flew in -- there's a thousand dollar plane ticket waiting for you, you fly out there and go to that bill signing. he really had a good time. he enjoyed himself and got a lot out of people and it was good but somebody asked what he did for clothes. he said he didn't have a bag, but started at oxford. he had fresh clothes and it was good. he was hair, a washington attorney was there and cam russell went to italy with me because john was the first choice because he couldn't end court trial and he didn't go and his harvard student, he lost the biggest case of his life and won a trip to italy. i tell people

by the senate to help the northeast recover from superstorm sandy, the most destructive storm of 2012. today, however, the new congress is expected to vote on $9 million for immediate aid, with the $51-million balance scheduled for a vote january 15th. consumers' fears of falling off the fiscal cliff along with deep discounts are expected to hurt 4th quarter profits for several major retailers. jc penney, target and khol's all warned 4th quarter earnings may come in below expectations because of larger-than-expected markdowns. meanwhile, for the month of december, major retail chains collectively posted a 4.5% increase in sales for the month, which was higher than analysts' expectations of 3.3%. costco was the top performer, wtih a 9% bump in sales. nordstrom reported an 8.6% rise, while ross stores and tj max sales were up 6%. automakers were in high gear last year with over 14 million in sales. 2013 was the strongest year since before the recession, with the big three automakers all gaining ground in december. chrysler topped the list with a 10% rise in sales, while gm's grew nearly 5%. f

long. no sooner did northeast republicans excoriate their brethern in congress for not passing a sandy storm relief bill than the house turned around and passed the bill. the near $10-billion measure was quickly passed in the house on friday and cleared the senate by unanimous consent. the 67 who voted no were all republicans. they had insisted that the aid be paid for by cuts in other federal programs. this was the first and least controversal part of a larger aid package to be considered in a couple of weeks. the fda is setting forth new rules that put the onus for food safety on food producers. about 3,000 americans die each year due to food-borne illnesses, and the new rules aim to make food processors and farms more accountable for reducing that number. companies will have to establish specific plans for preventing contamination as well as keep records that show they are doing so. the new rules are a result of the food safety and modernization act that was signed into law in 2011. still to come, more people are finding jobs. is it time to book a vacation? we'll give you some value

frustrating, i got angry. i was so very passionate, following what happened at sandy hook, as we all were. and my position on what should be done about gun control, i've been advocating for a long time. so this to me was a tipping point. and to hear them continue to espouse this, you cannot touch any guns philosophy, i found very frustrating. with alex jones, i took a different tact. my tact was to try and show that i could be a listener, that i would give him the time to explain, articulate his position, but instead, he didn't want to debate anything or discuss it. but i found it illuminating that during his rant, you got a real sense of what an element of the more extreme gun activists in this country genuinely believe. they believe that their government will perform as a sort of tyranny and overthrow them or try to, and that is why they all need to be heavily armed. and that's what he believes. that's what his followers, to his pretty well-listened to show believe. and i think sometimes, you have to give people just enough rope to tie themselves into a large, pretty unedifying not. and

morning. first they have to deal with getting money to those victims of superstorm sandy. national flood insurance running out next week. congress needs to act so today they are expected to approve $9 billion for that to keep those checks flowing. a bigger package they'll look at later in the month. they'll also recount the electoral votes from november's election just as a formality. as you alluded to, the big fight is coming up over the debt ceiling. we're reaching our limit for borrowing again. likely sometime in february around the same time that those budget cuts and defense cuts that were put off kick in yet again. you're right. probably another fiscal cliff. another contentious one because this time republicans are hinting they don't want to talk about allowing america to borrow more until there is serious discussion about how much less we're going to spend. spending cuts are a big mantra here on capitol hill. president obama says he's all for them. republicans say it's not enough and here we go again. >> the arm wrestling continues. tracie potts, we know you'll continue to watch
